Self defense blow to the testicles: a dim mak injury to pressure point Conception Vessel 1 Hui Yin

Most martial arts instructors teach groin strikes as an effective method for self defense. In particular, ladies self defence classes emphasise strikes to the testicles. Therefore injuries to the testicles are very common in martial arts training.

Martial artists who train in dim mak pressure points for self defense should learn about points that will cause serious injury or death when they are hit accurately and hard enough. The wise martial artist, however, knows that the concept of death points is all about the appreciation of the functioning of Chi and the human anatomy and not about gratuitous, irresponsible violence.

As you are aware, the groin is a vulnerable area of the body. In dim mak pressure point fighting, the groin also includes the dim mak pressure point Hui Yin, which is point Conception Vessel 1. Although it is a classical death point, accidental injury during training or self defense moves can be very painful. The consequences of injury to this sensitive area of the body need not be fatal provided the correct resuscucitation and first aid techniques are applied immediately. These techniques are taught in my healing dim mak seminars.

The Hui Yin or Conception Vessel 1, so named because it is the first pressure point on the Conception Vessel meridian, one of the body's two main resevoir channels. It is also the most Yin point on the human body.

A blow to the testicles in self defense is a not a direct blow to Hui Yin, but it can damage Hui Yin Conception Vessel 1. Another way to directly strike Hui Yin is to kick in a semi-circular way, from the ground up, either when behind the opponent or when facing him.

More precisely, dim mak pressure point Hui Yin is found between the genitals and anus on males and females. When this point is struck with enough force in self defense, it can manifest internal chaos such as major disruption of Chi to the four major energy pathways as well as the functioning of the Kidneys. This in turn could cause a turmoil of emotions, destruction to the reproductive and digestive systems, blood stasis and ultimately death.

Death can occur by way of a heart attack. This is due to the close relationship between Heart and Kidney. CV1 and genitals are under the rule of liver and kidney.

In Chinese medicine, Kidney supports Heart and if a person has an existing Heart disease (or any weakness in heart function) then a blow to CV1 can cause death by heart attack. This damages the balance between Fire and Water.

Because of its location, however, this pressure point can be a relatively difficult target. Hui Yin can easily be missed in self defense with actual contact being made with more sensitive body parts around that area instead. In males, the testicles are often struck as well.

Even so, Chinese History once again illustrates the importance of this point. In days gone by, the Generals taught their armies that as they were about to commence their attack they had to prepare themselves to make the best possible use of their Chi. To do this they had to control their breathing in a certain way and also 'seal' the Hui Yin in order to protect it. Today, during Dim Mak lessons on healing, students learn to use this approach as part of their training.

For most people, the idea of causing a fatality via a strike to a death point, is a particularly grappling subject. After all no responsible person wants to be in a situation where they just might have to deliver a fatal blow in self-defence. But, as in with any of the other pressure points that could cause instant or delayed death, rather than dwell too long on the reasons behind having to deliver it, the focus in Dim Mak training is on knowing WHY these areas function in the way they do.

In other words, learning about this point, is not about the concept of it being a particularly destructive area to target or its status of being a death point. Rather, knowledge about the Hui Yin, its functions and its vulnerabilities, is about the importance of Chi and its role in human anatomy. With regard to this most Yin point of the body, therefore, it is obvious why students of martial arts need to take the utmost care in their approach to others (during sparring for instance) as well as in protecting themselves.
